5) If this is the first time purchasing, you may be required to enter your card details. Once you’ve done this – you will be able to progress with the order. If you are happy with the quantity; press ‘Place Order’ and licenses will be purchased / added to your account.

6) The next step is to login to Meraki www.meraki.com). Once you’ve logged in, click Systems Manager -> VPP. If your application is showing up in the list; you can skip to the next step – otherwise click the ‘Force Sync Now’ in the top right for Meraki to synchronise with Apple.

7) Once your application and its licenses are visible on the VPP page, we can now progress to the deployment stage. From the Meraki dashboard go to Systems Manager -> Apps. Then click ‘Add New’ -> ‘iOS App’.

8) Ensure the country is set to the ‘UK’, then search for the application that you’ve purchased the licenses for (in this case, YouTube) and press the ‘Add’ button next to the app name (you may need to scroll across).

9) This step is particularly important. Ensure you click the ‘Use VPP device license’ tick box on this page. If you’d like the app to install to all devices, simply leave the scope as ‘All devices’. However; if you have tagged up specific apps with different names (i.e. Student iPad, Staff iPad, Purple Case, Black Case etc); change this from ‘All Devices’ to ‘with the following tags’, then specify the tags. For our example, we will roll out to all of the iPads with a purple case.

10) When you are done, click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page (may also be in the bottom right hand corner).

11) Your apps should now automatically sync to all of the specified devices. This can take up to 30 minutes to take place, so please be patient.

FAQ
Apps not deploying / installing
1st - Highlight all devices from the Meraki control panel, then click ‘Command’ -> ‘Refresh Device Details’ then ‘Command’ -> ‘Sync Apps’, then ‘Command’ -> ‘Sync Profiles’.
2nd – Ensure the devices are connected to WiFi and that they haven’t been placed into Airplane mode. Meraki requires internet access in order to work; so this will prevent the devices from picking up the new policies/apps.
3rd – Double check that you have purchased the required amount of licenses for the application to be rolled out. If you are receiving errors under each device stating that the license count is invalid, this will be the case.
